I run a small network of servers running ngircd, three (3) in all.
today - about 5 min ago (~20:15 PST) all three ngircd processes abruptly
ended.
All three of them were ngircd 0.7.7, two were running on Linux and one
on FreeBSD.
nothing was written to syslog.
...any ideas?

Hi, there,
I am confused about the server group configuration. This should work
like this:
My server connects to the first server in the group,
when the first becomes unavaible, my server connects to the second? Did
I understand that right?
My Problem: My Server connects only to the second in the list?!?! And
when this server goes down, nothing happens....
My server is the newest debian package, my config (only the server
group part):
- ---
[Server]
# Other servers are configured in [Server] sections. If you
# configure a port for the connection, then this ngircd tries to
# connect to to the other server on the given port; if not it
waits
# for the other server to connect.
# There may be more than one server block.
#
# Server Groups:
# The ngIRCd allows "server groups": You can assign an "ID" to
every
# server with which you want this ngIRCd to link. If a server
of a
# group won't answer, the ngIRCd tries to connect to the next
server
# in the given group. But the ngircd never tries to connect to
two
# servers with the same group ID.
# Hostname des Servers
Host = arthur.ath.cx
# IRC-Name des Servers
Name = irc.BIT.netz
# Port, zu dem dieser Server eine Verbindung herstellen soll.
Wird
# kein Port angegeben, so wird auf eine Verbindung der
Gegenseite
# gewartet.
Port = 6667
# Passwort fuer diese Verbindung
MyPassword = xxxxxxx
PeerPassword = xxxxxxxx
# Gruppe, zu der dieser Server gehoert (optional).
Group = 100
Host = mow.ath.cx
Name = tool.dev.netz
Port =6667
MyPassword = xxxxxxxx
PeerPassword = xxxxxxxx
Group = 100
- ---
and ngircd --configtest (again only the server part):
- ---
[SERVER]
Name = tool.dev.netz
Host = mow.ath.cx
Port = 6667
MyPassword = xxxxxxxx
PeerPassword = xxxxxxxx
Group = 100
- ---
Does anyone see the problem?
Regards,
Ilja

Hello everyone,
I wasn't sure if you were aware of this, but there is a recent article out
there featuring ngIRCd. My hat is off to Alexander Barton for producing a
great little package. The link to the article is :

Enjoy. And take care out there.
