Most likely you have to install libident first.
well, I already did that. I've installed security/libident (port), but the result is the same. The configure script breaks up with the same error mesasage :-/
Okay, I'm not that familiar with the ports system of FreeBSD: where became libident installed? Is this a "standard library search path" of the linker?
And could you have a look into config.log? There you should find the error message of the compiler/linker.

The standard for FreeBSD ports is to install in /usr/local, and include /usr/local/lib in the normal library search path. Most config scripts I've come across include /usr/local/lib in their search directly as well. I'll poke on my box and see if I can help nail this down.
Someone (Martin) should email the port maintainer as listed in the port and let him know of this failure. The port should be setup to recognize the option and depend on libident when passed, handling this problem in the background.

I did, and here is his answer. Short, but good ;-)
"Thank you for submitting it, I fixed the port, please cvsup."
Ciao, -Martin.
